Ba Dinh is one of the four central districts in Hanoi and is surrounded by five districts, including Tay Ho, Hoan Kiem, Dong Da, and Cau Giay. It is a place for those who prefer solemnity and maleficent architecture, offering a totally different vibe from the busy, crowded Hoan Kiem District. Most Government offices and embassies are located here, for that it has witnessed Vietnam's courageous past, one of the events was when President Ho Chi Minh declared Vietnam’s independence right at Ba Dinh Square in 1945. Locals refer to the district as “Khu pho Phap” (French Quarter) after the staggering number of French-designed villas and buildings here.

If you plan to visit Ba Dinh District in your trip, the most common ways are taking a bus or grabbing a taxi. It takes about 15 minutes to go from Hanoi Old Quarter to Ba Dinh by bus (Route 09CT from Viet Duc Hospital to 48 Lieu Giai Street), or you can book a Grab taxi

From Noi Bai International Airport, you can take bus Number 09 and depart at Kim Ma Bus Station.
